The real deal behind Team Krazy!

Team Krazy is a car club, which began in Westville in August 2002 with 3 members. The idea behind the club was to have a bunch of guys who enjoyed car styling and were friends. A website was launched www.teamkrazy.com and the rest is history.

The club was the brainchild of brothers Neil and Ross Smith and a good friend Matthew Goff. The club is run as a team with a global chairman – Neil Smith and then a national chairman and a regional chairman with a committee to assist in each of the provinces.

Team Krazy has grown in 2 years to become one of the premiere, elite car styling clubs in the country. The club currently has approximately 40 members in Durban, 20 in Johannesburg and now has chapters in England and Australia and is growing everyday. It is a “local club with global reach”.

The club members participate in many events which are organized by the members and the committee. These events include car shows where the cars are put on display, breakfast runs on weekends and charity events. Recently Team Krazy was involved with East Coast Radio Winter Warm Promotion and brought in a bakkie load of blankets for charity. The club is run as a Section 21, non profit organization, the club relies on the members and a few headline sponsors to assist with the funding to run the club and the many events we hold.

There is however much confusion of what the club is about in the public eye. The club is seen as being associated with illegal drag racing, and the illegal boy racer perception which is untrue!! The club tries to keep clear of all illegal events and prefers to participate in MSA (Motor sport South Africa) and other sanctioned events which are legal.

To become a member of Team Krazy you have to be passionate about cars and that must be shown in the car you drive, the application is reviewed by the committee members and the a decision is made. A major part of the application process is getting to know the member as we prefer to have members with no attitude and a wholesome friendly outlook on life. So basically we are just a group of friends with one main common goal – awesome cars and good fun.
